Jimmy Fallon Reacts To Jimmy Kimmel's ABC Suspension: 'WTF? What's Going On?'

During Thursday's episode of "The Tonight Show," Jimmy Fallon addressed the situation surrounding his fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, stating that he hoped Kimmel would return to television soon.

"Well guys, the big story is that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC after pressure from the FCC, leaving everyone thinking WTF? What's going on?" Fallon remarked, adding a touch of humor to the serious topic.

Fallon shared a personal anecdote about the confusion the news had created, saying, "This morning I woke up to 100 text messages from my dad saying I'm sorry they cancelled your show. I go, that's not me, that's Jimmy Kimmel."

Despite the lighthearted approach, Fallon expressed genuine support for his colleague: "But to be honest with you all, I, I don't know what's going on. And no one does, but I do know Jimmy Kimmel, and he's a decent, funny, and loving guy, and I hope he comes back."

Addressing concerns about potential censorship in late-night comedy, Fallon humorously demonstrated his stance by pretending to cover President Trump's UK trip "normally" while a voiceover dubbed over his words with exaggerated praise for the president.

The controversy began when Kimmel made comments on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" suggesting that Kirk's shooter was a Trump supporter and criticized "the MAGA gang" for "doing everything they can to score political points" from Kirk's assassination.

Kimmel also mocked Trump's public mourning of Kirk, comparing it to "how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish," which drew significant backlash.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr condemned Kimmel's remarks as "the sickest conduct possible," after which Nexstar Media Group Inc., owner of over 200 TV stations in the US, announced its ABC affiliates would stop airing "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" "for the foreseeable future."
