In a heartbreaking incident from Houston, Texas, a 34-year-old man died in the parking area of KFFO Afro Steakhouse after restaurant employees mistook him for a homeless person and moved him outside rather than calling for medical assistance, according to a report by the Houston Chronicle.
The Houston Police Department identified the victim as Jessie Mobley Jr., who reportedly fell unconscious after finishing his meal at the establishment on August 7. Instead of dialing 911 for emergency services, staff members allegedly relocated him outside the restaurant, positioning him upright alongside his possessions.
Police reports indicate that employees failed to call emergency services because they assumed Mobley was experiencing homelessness. His body was discovered the following morning by a student from an adjacent beauty school.

The tragedy has devastated Mobley's parents, Renee and Jessie Sr., who have now lost three children over a 13-year period. Jessie Sr. has experienced significant health complications due to his ongoing grief. Mobley had been residing with his aunt, Charlene Fogg-Drake, who demands answers about why emergency services weren't contacted and calls for those responsible to be held accountable.
"Why didn't you call 911? I feel like people need to be accountable for it, I really do," Fogg-Drake expressed to the Houston Chronicle.

According to KHOU reporting, the steakhouse owners have declined to provide any statement regarding the incident.
"We just think if somebody had gotten him some help instead of putting him on the sidewalk, called 911 if nothing else. If you don't know what's wrong with someone, you shouldn't assume," Mobley's mother stated to the news outlet.
Houston police are currently awaiting autopsy findings to determine the precise cause of death.
Meanwhile, the family hopes this tragic event will emphasize the importance of treating all individuals with respect and seeking appropriate help in emergency situations.
