Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Khurram Zeeshan has dismissed rumors regarding Imran Khan's death, confirming on Saturday that the former Prime Minister remains alive and is currently detained in Adiala jail.
He further explained that Khan is being deliberately kept isolated as a strategy to pressure him into departing from Pakistan.
In his conversation with ANI from Pakistan, Khurram Zeeshan, a member of Imran Khan's political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), revealed that the current regime feels threatened by Imran Khan's popularity, explaining why authorities have prohibited the release of any photographs or video footage of him.
Earlier this week, various social media accounts from Afghanistan circulated claims that Imran Khan had been killed inside Rawalpindi's detention facility.
The circulation of these rumors coincides with Pakistani authorities denying Imran's sisters permission to visit him for the past month, despite existing court directives.
"This situation is deeply concerning. He has been in isolation for nearly a month, with his family, legal representatives, and even senior PTI leadership being denied visitation rights. This constitutes a clear violation of human rights. It appears they are attempting to coerce him into compliance," he informed ANI.
Dispelling the ongoing rumors, Zeeshan stated, "Over the past few days, we have received assurances. He is alive and presently held in Adiala jail. He is doing fine."
When questioned about the nature of the arrangement the Pakistani government is attempting to negotiate with Imran Khan, the Senator revealed that Khan has been pressured to exit the country and maintain silence.
"They are attempting to negotiate with Imran Khan, urging him to leave the country. They have even promised concessions if he relocates abroad and remains silent in a location of his choosing. However, Imran Khan will never accept such terms. Given his leadership qualities, he will never agree to such conditions," he emphasized.
Despite his imprisonment, Khan's influence continues to expand. His political organization, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), maintains strong support among Pakistan's youth demographic, and his ideology has begun to resonate across multiple generations, as Zeeshan observed.
"PTI has promising prospects. Such challenging circumstances often bring out the best in people. Those who genuinely believe in these principles are stepping forward," he added.
Responding to questions about why no photographs of Imran Khan have been released since his incarceration, Zeeshan suggested that the current Pakistani leadership appears intimidated, concerned that even a single image could mobilize public support.
