Kashmir Experiences Coldest November Since 2007 with Temperatures Plunging to Minus 6 Degrees Celsius

Kashmir valley is facing its coldest November in 16 years with temperatures dropping below freezing point across multiple locations. Srinagar recorded minus 4.5 degrees Celsius while Konibal in Pulwama district reached minus 6 degrees Celsius, marking historic lows. Meteorologists predict continued dry weather and potentially lower temperatures through early December.

Kashmir Records Coldest November Since 2007 At Minus 6 Degrees Celsius

Officials reported that several weather monitoring stations throughout the Kashmir valley have documented the lowest nighttime temperatures of the season.

Kashmir is currently experiencing its coldest November since 2007, with temperatures falling below freezing across numerous locations, according to officials on Friday.

Srinagar recorded its coldest night of the season with temperatures dropping to minus 4.5 degrees Celsius, slightly down from minus 4.4 degrees Celsius the night before. Officials noted that the city has been experiencing a steady decline in nighttime temperatures over recent days, with readings approximately four degrees below the seasonal norm.

Officials further stated that multiple weather stations across the Kashmir valley have registered their lowest November nighttime temperatures since 2007. Historical records show that Srinagar had previously recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.8 degrees Celsius on November 28, 2007, while the all-time lowest November temperature for the city was minus 7.8 degrees Celsius, documented in 1934.

According to official reports, Konibal in south Kashmir's Pulwama district emerged as the coldest location in the valley last night, with temperatures plummeting to minus 6 degrees Celsius.

Other areas also experienced significant cold: Qazigund, the gateway town to the valley, recorded minus 4.4 degrees Celsius, while north Kashmir's Kupwara reached minus 4.8 degrees Celsius.

In additional locations across the region, south Kashmir's Kokernag registered minus 1.8 degrees Celsius, the Pahalgam tourist resort recorded minus 5.5 degrees Celsius, and the Gulmarg ski resort measured minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological department has forecasted predominantly dry weather throughout Kashmir until December 10, warning that nighttime temperatures may drop even further in the coming days.
