Gold Chain Dispute Leads to Tragic Murder of 75-Year-Old Kerala Woman by Her Daughter

Thankamani's daughter Sandhya and her partner Nithin have been arrested in connection with her murder.

In a shocking incident from Thrissur, Kerala, a 75-year-old woman was murdered allegedly by her own daughter and her daughter's partner over a gold chain.

The elderly victim, Thankamani, was discovered by neighbors in a plot behind her home in Mundoor early Sunday morning. Initially, authorities suspected an accidental death as she had facial injuries consistent with a fall. However, the post-mortem examination revealed that this was actually a homicide case.

During the investigation, neighbors informed police that Thankamani always wore a gold chain, which was notably missing from her body. This crucial observation led investigators to question her 45-year-old daughter, Sandhya.

Sandhya had been living with her mother following her separation from her husband. Police investigations uncovered that she was romantically involved with Nithin, a 29-year-old local resident.

When interrogated, Sandhya confessed that she had asked her mother for the gold chain to provide financial assistance to Nithin. When Thankamani refused to part with her jewelry, an argument erupted between mother and daughter that escalated into a physical altercation.

During the struggle, Sandhya allegedly grabbed her mother by the throat and pushed her. Thankamani fell, striking her head on the ground, which proved fatal.

According to reports, Sandhya and Nithin attempted to disguise the murder as an accidental death. After the discovery of the body, they pretended to know nothing about the circumstances of Thankamani's death, hoping police would attribute it to an accidental fall.

However, the post-mortem findings raised suspicions, and the missing gold chain provided investigators with the breakthrough they needed. Under questioning, both Sandhya and Nithin eventually confessed to their involvement.

Authorities have taken both suspects into custody as the investigation continues.
