T-Series' devotional video 'Shree Hanuman Chalisa' has achieved an extraordinary milestone, surpassing 5 billion views on YouTube, making it India's first upload to reach this remarkable number. The video currently registers 5,008,284,112 views, establishing itself as a global phenomenon.
Uploaded on May 10, 2011, this spiritual masterpiece features the late Gulshan Kumar, with the melodious voice of Hariharan and musical composition by Lalit Sen. The video has outperformed all Bollywood tracks, Punjabi hits, and viral sensations from India.
The closest Indian competitor, the Punjabi song 'Lehenga,' has accumulated only 1.8 billion views, creating a staggering gap of over three billion views. Popular tracks like '52 Gaj Ka Daman,' 'Rowdy Baby,' 'Zaroori Tha,' 'Vaaste,' 'Laung Laachi,' 'Lut Gaye,' 'Dilbar,' and 'Bum Bum Bole' all remain under the 2-billion mark.
On YouTube's global rankings, 'Shree Hanuman Chalisa' stands among elite content, though children's entertainment and international pop songs occupy the highest positions. 'Baby Shark Dance' leads worldwide with over 16 billion views, followed by 'Despacito' at 8.8 billion. Various nursery rhymes and family-friendly content have also exceeded the 7-billion threshold.
T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar expressed that this achievement holds special emotional significance. He attributed this success to his father, Gulshan Kumar, who dedicated significant portions of his career to making devotional music widely accessible throughout India, as reported by Mashable India.
The chairman noted that reaching 5 billion views demonstrates the continuing devotion of millions of viewers to this spiritual content.
The Hanuman Chalisa itself is a sacred hymn honoring Lord Hanuman, one of Hinduism's most revered deities and a key figure in the Ramayana epic. Composed in the 16th century by poet-saint Tulsidas, this devotional piece comprises 50 verses that celebrate Hanuman's exceptional strength, wisdom, loyalty, and his unwavering devotion to Lord Rama. Each stanza illuminates different aspects of Lord Hanuman's divine character and virtues.
