A resident of Faridabad has been apprehended for providing assistance to the suicide bomber responsible for the devastating explosion near the Red Fort on November 10. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced in an official statement that Soyab, a resident of Dhauj in Faridabad, was arrested for "harbouring terrorist Umar Un Nabi immediately before the Delhi terror bomb blast."
According to the anti-terror agency, Soyab additionally provided crucial logistical support to Umar prior to the November 10 attack. This arrest brings the total number of suspects in custody related to the bombing incident to seven. The blast claimed the lives of 13 people and left nearly two dozen others injured.
The NIA has stated that it continues to actively pursue various leads connected to the suicide bombing. Investigators have conducted extensive searches across multiple states to identify and track down additional individuals involved in the attack. The agency confirmed that efforts are ongoing to completely uncover the conspiracy behind this terrorist act.
Umar un-Nabi, also known as Umar Mohammad, was operating an i20 vehicle through congested traffic in the Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi when the explosion occurred.
He was part of what investigators have described as a sophisticated white-collar terror module affiliated with the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist organization. Among those currently in custody are his associates from Al Falah University in Faridabad - Shaheen Saeed, Muzammil Shakeel, and Adeel Rather.
Intelligence sources indicate that this group was planning to execute a series of explosions across major metropolitan areas throughout the country.
