Mumbai International Airport, operated by Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), has achieved a remarkable milestone by handling 1,036 air traffic movements in a single day on November 21, exceeding its previous record of 1,032 set earlier this month. This significant increase is primarily attributed to heightened festive season demand, according to MIAL's Monday announcement.
The record-breaking 1,036 air traffic movements consisted of 520 arrivals and 516 departures. Among these flights, 755 were domestic operations while 281 served international routes, demonstrating the airport's capacity to manage diverse traffic volumes.
In addition to the flight movement record, the Adani Group-AAI operated facility reported 170,488 passenger movements on the same day, comprising 121,527 domestic travelers and 48,961 international passengers. This figure comes remarkably close to the airport's all-time high of 170,516 passengers recorded on January 11, 2025.
According to MIAL, the busiest domestic routes on November 21 were to and from Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. For international travel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London Heathrow, Doha, and Jeddah emerged as the most popular destinations, highlighting strong demand for these routes.
This achievement underscores Mumbai International Airport's growing significance as a major aviation hub in India and its capability to efficiently handle increasing air traffic demands.
