Police registered a case against the three men for impersonating officers.
Three individuals were arrested in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, for allegedly impersonating police officers in an attempt to impress family members at a wedding ceremony, officials reported on Monday.
The suspects were apprehended while driving a private vehicle equipped with red and blue beacons, falsely claiming to be traffic in charge and staff members of Madhya Pradesh Police within the Bhawanimandi police station jurisdiction.
According to SP Amit Kumar, a police patrol team at Jaipuriya Mill intercepted a white car fitted with what appeared to be police beacons.
The driver, identified as Ravi, falsely presented himself as the traffic-in-charge of MP Police and introduced his companions, Abhishek and Sunil, as police personnel.
Officers grew suspicious and requested their department identification cards and authorization for using police beacons. Their inability to provide these documents prompted further questioning, causing visible nervousness among the suspects, the SP elaborated.
Subsequently, Ravi allegedly confessed to installing the police beacons on the vehicle and fabricating their police identities to create an impression on relatives attending a wedding.
Authorities filed charges against the three men – Ravi Bairwa (37) from Ujjain, MP; Abhishek Bairwa (22) from New Delhi; and Sunil Tomar (36) from Ujjain, MP – under relevant legal provisions and placed them under arrest.
Police also confiscated the vehicle they had been using for their impersonation scheme.
