Purnea:
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reaffirmed his commitment to the NDA alliance during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Purnea on Monday, expressing regret over his previous brief partnerships with the RJD-Congress coalition, which he claimed "consistently created problems during our shared governance."
Speaking at the event with PM Modi present, just weeks before the expected announcement of assembly elections, Nitish Kumar reflected on his political journey.
"The JD(U)-BJP alliance first formed Bihar's government in November 2005. On one or two occasions, I shifted alliances after being persuaded by certain party colleagues, including one present here today," Nitish Kumar said, gesturing toward Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lalan', whom he had replaced as the party's national president approximately two years ago.
"However, that's behind us now. I never felt at ease with those individuals. They continuously created difficulties whenever we governed together... I have now returned. And I won't be departing again," the JD(U) leader stated, drawing smiles and applause from the Prime Minister.
Nitish Kumar praised PM Modi for the central government's state-focused initiatives, specifically highlighting this year's budget announcements, including the establishment of a National Makhana Board, which the PM inaugurated during his Purnea visit.
The Chief Minister also highlighted his government's recent initiatives, such as providing 125 units of free electricity and increasing social security pensions.
Concluding his address, Nitish Kumar turned to the women in attendance, encouraging them to stand and acknowledge the Prime Minister.
The women immediately rose, greeting PM Modi with folded hands before breaking into enthusiastic applause.
Earlier that day, the Prime Minister launched multiple development projects valued at approximately Rs 36,000 crore in Purnea district.
