Mohan Yadav and Madhya Pradesh BJP leaders celebrate NDA's victory in Bihar election, in Bhopal.
In the high-stakes Bihar assembly elections, where the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a massive victory, the Madhya Pradesh unit of the BJP didn't merely campaign—they orchestrated what resembled a professional cricket tournament, delivering performance metrics that would impress even IPL professionals.
The Madhya Pradesh BJP contingent approached the election battlefield as if wielding cricket bats rather than microphones. Their electoral performance statistics reveal a fascinating story of political strategy and execution.
For campaign management purposes, Bihar was strategically divided into five distinct zones. The largest region, Mithila-Tirhut, encompassing 58 seats across 12 districts, operated under the leadership of state BJP unit in-charge Dr. Mahendra Singh. His campaign team included notable figures like Banshilal Gurjar, Ashutosh Tiwari, Shailendra Barua, Anil Ferozia, Gajendra Patel, and spokesperson KP Singh Yadav.
This wasn't ordinary political campaigning—it represented four months of intensive preparation, comparable to cricket net practice, with meticulous booth-level strategy development and ground coordination efforts.
More than 75 Madhya Pradesh BJP leaders functioned with the precision and dedication of a professional sports franchise preparing for championship competition.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was tasked with overseeing 25 Bihar constituencies. His efforts culminated in NDA victories in 21 of these areas—translating to an impressive 84% success rate.
Dr. Yadav was strategically deployed to constituencies with complex Yadav-Muslim demographic equations, including Wazirganj, Alamnagar, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, and several others. Similar to a cricket power hitter adapting to different bowling styles, Yadav customized his campaign approach to address Bihar's OBC-dominated electoral landscape, where OBC voters significantly outnumber upper castes.
The outcome? NDA emerged victorious in many of these challenging constituencies.
In conversation with NDTV, Yadav remarked that while the public sees election results after voting concludes, party leadership often senses outcomes even before ballots are counted—a statement reflecting the confident demeanor of a political captain who anticipates victory before official announcements.
Union Minister and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan achieved a perfect 100% success rate in Bihar. Assigned responsibility for seven constituencies, he delivered victories in all seven—a political equivalent of a flawless cricket performance.
Former Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra and current State Minister Vishwas Sarang were each assigned six constituencies in Bihar.
Both BJP leaders successfully secured NDA victories in all their assigned territories, maintaining the state BJP unit's perfect record.
Former state BJP president VD Sharma played a crucial middle-order role in the campaign. Responsible for 19 seats, he delivered victories in 17—achieving an 89.5% success rate that any political strategist would value for future electoral contests.
His assignment covered the politically significant regions of Patna and Begusarai. He remained stationed in Bihar for nearly a month, focusing intensively on booth management and strategic voter outreach—effectively wresting eight seats from the Mahagathbandan alliance.
Several other Madhya Pradesh BJP leaders recorded success rates exceeding 90%, making the state's contingent virtually unbeatable. Assignments included Arvind Bhadoria in Gopalganj, Anil Ferozia in Gaya, Gajendra Patel in Khagaria, and Dr. KP Yadav in Samastipur.
The opposition Congress party from Madhya Pradesh also deployed senior leaders to Bihar, including Digvijay Singh and Jitu Patwari among others.
Unlike their BJP counterparts, however, the Congress campaign failed to gain momentum or achieve significant breakthroughs in the electoral contest.
