Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha successfully secured their electoral victories in Tarapur and Lakhisarai assembly constituencies respectively.
In a remarkable display of incumbency advantage, 24 out of 25 ministers from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar retained their seats as the coalition decisively defeated the Mahagathbandhan opposition.
Both Deputy Chief Ministers, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha from the BJP, emerged victorious in Tarapur and Lakhisarai assembly seats, reinforcing the party's strong position in the state.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who serves as a member of the legislative council (MLC), did not participate as a candidate in these assembly elections.
The BJP fielded 15 ministers in the electoral contest, all of whom achieved victory, demonstrating the party's significant electoral strength across the state.
Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar, a BJP stalwart, successfully defended his Gaya Town seat for an unprecedented eighth consecutive term, a remarkable achievement also matched by JD(U) cabinet colleague Bijendra Yadav in Supaul constituency.
Minister Raju Kumar Singh, who had won the Sahebganj seat in 2020 on a Vikassheel Insan Party ticket before joining the BJP, successfully retained his constituency under his new party's banner.
BJP's Sanjay Saraogi (Darbhanga) and Nitin Nabin (Bankipur) secured their respective seats for an impressive fifth consecutive term, further solidifying their political strongholds.
Additional victorious BJP ministers included Renu Devi (Bettiah), Nitish Mishra (Jhanjharpur), Neeraj Kumar Singh 'Bablu' (Chhatapur), Kedar Prasad Gupta (Kurhani), Jibesh Kumar (Jale), Krishnanandan Paswan (Harsidhi), Vijay Kumar Mandal, Krishna Kumar Mantoo (Amnour), and Sunil Kumar (Bihar Sharif).
The sole ministerial defeat came to Sumit Kumar Singh, who had previously won as an independent candidate in 2020 before being inducted into the state cabinet. Singh lost the Chakai assembly seat by nearly 13,000 votes to RJD's Savitri Devi, whom he had defeated in the previous election.
Sumit Kumar Singh, son of late Narendra Singh (a former state minister and close associate of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar), had held the science, technology and technical education portfolio in the outgoing administration.
JD(U) ministers who secured victories included Sheela Kumari (Phulparas), Leshi Singh (Dhamdaha), Ratnesh Sada (Sonbarsha), Madan Sahni (Bahadurpur), Vijay Kumar Choudhary (Sarairanjan), Jayant Raj (Amarpur), Shrawon Kumar (Nalanda), and Mohd. Zama Khan (Chainpur).
The ruling NDA alliance overwhelmingly defeated the opposition Mahagathbandhan on Friday, maintaining its hold on power while reaffirming Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's enduring political appeal, while delivering a significant setback to the Congress and its ally RJD.
The magnitude of the NDA's victory is illustrated by the impressive performance of its primary constituents - BJP and JD(U) - which achieved nearly 85 percent success rates in the 101 seats contested by each party.
The alliance secured a commanding "200 paar" win, obtaining a three-fourths majority in Bihar's 243-member assembly, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party in the state legislature.
