On November 10, a car explosion near Red Fort in Delhi resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people.
A team from the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) visited a private hospital in Saharanpur on Friday to collect information about Adil Ahmed, who is currently under investigation following the Delhi blast incident.
Adil Ahmed, a native of Jammu and Kashmir, was apprehended in Saharanpur last week. He had been employed at the private Famous Hospital in Saharanpur.
Officials from V Brass Hospital reported that the ATS team interrogated staff members regarding Adil's behavior, work responsibilities, and visitors during his employment there.
Mamta, the vice president of Oscar Group which operates the hospital, informed PTI that Adil had worked at the facility for approximately three months. "The ATS team inquired about his behavior, his activities in the hospital, and the people who used to meet him. We provided all necessary information," she stated.
She further mentioned that Adil's hiring had been handled through the group's Rohtak office. His departure from the job was primarily due to salary-related concerns.
"His monthly compensation was Rs 4 lakh with a house rent allowance of Rs 10,000. As salary disbursements in private institutions sometimes experience delays of a few days, he would become dissatisfied. Eventually, he received a more lucrative offer elsewhere and submitted his resignation," she explained.
According to her, the new hospital offered him an additional Rs 1.5 lakh in compensation.
On Friday evening, the National Medical Commission removed his name along with those of Dr Muzaffar Ahmad, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, and Dr Shaheen Saeed from the National Medical Register after they were charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with the Delhi blast.
The previous day, teams from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other agencies had visited two hospitals - Famous Hospital on Ambala Road and V Brass Hospital on Delhi Road - to gather his employment records and other relevant details.
Mamta mentioned that the ATS team spent about an hour at the hospital on Friday. "They inquired whether we had observed any suspicious activity, but we had not noticed anything unusual. Our institution maintains a good reputation, and we will fully cooperate with the agencies on all matters concerning national security," she affirmed.
Colleagues of Adil Ahmed at Famous Hospital on Ambala Road in Saharanpur described him as "quiet, polite and professional."
Investigators claim that Adil maintained connections with terrorist organizations, including Jaish-e-Mohammed, and may have provided logistical support for their operations.
A flight ticket recovered near Adil Ahmad's residence in Saharanpur showed that he had traveled from Srinagar to Delhi on October 31, just days before the November 10 car explosion near Red Fort that killed 13 people and injured over 20.
Previously, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had taken Adil into custody to Srinagar, while central and state agencies expanded their investigation into his activities and network.
