PM Modi's Bihar Victory Signals BJP's Strategic Push into West Bengal: "Ganga Flows from Bihar to Bengal"

Following the NDA's decisive victory in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has signaled BJP's strategic focus on neighboring West Bengal, comparing their political momentum to the flow of the Ganga River. With BJP emerging as the single-largest party in Bihar's 243-seat assembly, Modi's rhetoric challenges Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress government ahead of West Bengal's 2026 elections, intensifying the political rivalry between the national and regional powers.

Ganga Flows From Bihar To Bengal, Created Path Of Victory For BJP: PM Modi

PM Narendra Modi indicated that the Bihar victory has established groundwork for success in West Bengal

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared today at the BJP headquarters in Delhi that the NDA's overwhelming victory in Bihar has laid the foundation for similar success in neighboring West Bengal, currently governed by Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress.

"The river Ganga flows to Bengal via Bihar. And the victory in Bihar, like the river, has paved the way for our victory in Bengal," PM Modi stated near the conclusion of his extensive address.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) dominated the Bihar election, securing over 202 seats out of 243, with BJP emerging as the largest single party.

"Your hopes are my pledge and your dreams are my inspiration. For the BJP, the party workers are its strength," PM Modi emphasized, attributing the exceptional Bihar results to the dedication of party workers.

Referring to the defeat of the Mahagathbandhan opposition alliance, which BJP had warned would bring "Jungle Raj" if elected, PM Modi urged Bengal's citizens to similarly "uproot Jungle Raj" from their state.

"Not just in Bengal, this victory will inspire our workers in the south too," PM Modi added.

Earlier that day, as trends revealed the NDA's remarkable performance in Bihar, BJP leaders had already begun discussing Bengal. BJP's Giriraj Singh cautioned Banerjee to "brace for the worst," receiving support from Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, who predicted a "spectacular" BJP win in next year's Bengal election.

Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar, referencing his 'Mission Bengal' agenda, made a pointed statement: "Now the time comes to clean up the jungles of Bengal."

The Trinamool Congress responded to BJP's challenge through its official social media platform.

"Bring it on," declared Bengal's ruling party. The post included an earlier video of Banerjee stating, "It is not easy to play with us."

"You slink into Bengal, groveling for votes, after branding our sacred land 'a state of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas.' To a party that wallows in such despicable slander, we hurl one searing question: Have you no shame at all?" the Trinamool Congress stated.

"In 2026, the people of Bengal will democratically crush your arrogance underfoot and send you crawling back in disgrace. You are not welcome here, and you never will be," they continued.

Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh dismissed any connection between Bihar's electoral outcome and Bengal's political landscape. "That is Bihar's equation. It has no connection with Bengal; with over 250 seats, Mamata Banerjee will become chief minister again," he concluded.
