The BJP launched a scathing critique of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a convincing victory in the Bihar assembly election.
During the ongoing vote count, a viral map circulated across social media platforms highlighting Gandhi's alleged "95 electoral defeats" spanning the last two decades.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya spearheaded the mockery by sharing a graphic that meticulously cataloged elections from 2004 to 2025 where the Congress under Rahul Gandhi's leadership either surrendered state power or failed to make significant electoral inroads.
"Rahul Gandhi! Another election, another defeat! If there were awards for electoral consistency, he'd sweep them all. At this rate, even setbacks must be wondering how he finds them so reliably," Malviya stated in his social media post.
Malviya also distributed a comprehensive map documenting 95 contests across various states where Congress had underperformed since Gandhi became a central campaigner for the party.
This extensive list encompasses assembly elections in nearly every major Indian state, including Himachal Pradesh (2007, 2017), Punjab (2007, 2012, 2022), Gujarat (2007, 2012, 2017, 2022), Madhya Pradesh (2008, 2013, 2018, 2023), and Maharashtra (2014, 2019, 2024).
The compilation additionally features multiple electoral cycles in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, as well as defeats in Northeastern states, southern regions, Union Territories, and repeated losses in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the BJP-led NDA coalition—which includes Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United)—is heading toward a landslide victory.
Current official leads show the NDA ahead in more than 190 seats out of the total 243, substantially exceeding the required majority mark of 122.
According to the latest Election Commission data, the BJP is leading in 84 constituencies, while JD(U) is ahead in 76 seats.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is leading in 23 seats, and Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha in four. Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha is ahead in one constituency.
The opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance—comprising the RJD, Congress, and Left parties—is leading in just 49 seats. Within this coalition, the RJD leads in 34 constituencies, Congress in six, CPI(ML)(L) in six, and the CPM in one.
Poll strategist Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj party, which initially showed promising leads in four constituencies, has now fallen behind.
Among smaller political entities, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is leading in three seats.
NDTV's aggregate of exit polls had projected 146 seats for the NDA, 24 above the majority threshold. The Mahagathbandhan was expected to secure approximately 92 seats, representing a significant decline from its previous assembly tally of 110 seats.
In the 2020 election, the BJP surpassed the JDU to become the dominant partner in the alliance, winning 74 seats compared to JDU's 43. The RJD emerged as the single-largest party that year with 75 seats but lacked sufficient numbers to form a government.
