A 14-year-old student enrolled in Class 6 tragically ended her life by jumping from her family's residence on the 19th floor in Maharashtra's Thane district, according to police statements released on Friday.

The devastating incident occurred in Kalyan West on Thursday. The young girl resided with her mother, grandmother, and sister in the high-rise apartment.

Police investigations revealed that the student was experiencing significant mental distress due to her academic struggles. Despite consistent studying efforts, she had been unable to improve her academic performance, as reported by an official familiar with the case.

According to family statements shared with the police, the student's anxiety had intensified following disappointing results in her recent pre-Diwali examinations. This situation was compounded by ongoing encouragement from her teachers to enhance her scholastic achievements.

The teenager reportedly jumped from a window of the apartment and landed on a two-wheeler parked below. Emergency responders rushed her to a nearby medical facility, where medical professionals pronounced her deceased upon arrival, the official confirmed.

The Khadakpada police have officially documented the incident as an accidental death and have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy, as stated by the official.
