Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has emphasized that the party must strengthen its organizational structure following the disappointing results in Bihar. According to the latest data, Congress is projected to secure only six seats, a significant decline from the 19 seats they won previously.
Singh, who formerly served as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, stated, "Congress needs to prioritize building its organizational foundation. Modern elections require intensive engagement at the polling booth level, rather than depending on rallies and public meetings." He also extended his congratulations to the victorious candidates.
The election results in Bihar continue to develop with ongoing updates.
Singh reiterated allegations made by his party that votes were "stolen" during the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls, a process that the Election Commission maintains was designed to purify the electoral lists in Bihar.
The veteran politician claimed that the majority of voters removed from electoral lists belonged to economically disadvantaged communities, including Dalits and minorities. He additionally expressed skepticism regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
In an online statement, Singh declared, "My suspicions have been confirmed. 6.2 million voters were removed, 2 million were added, with approximately 500,000 votes cast without completing the SIR form. The majority of eliminated votes belonged to poor citizens, Dalits, and minority groups. Furthermore, doubts persist concerning the EVMs."
Congress has repeatedly accused the Election Commission of "vote manipulation" at the BJP's direction through the implementation of the SIR exercise. The party claimed that 69 lakh votes were eliminated in Bihar, further alleging that millions more would be deleted when SIR is implemented across 12 additional states. The Election Commission has firmly rejected these accusations.
