15 Arrested in Assam for Inflammatory Social Media Posts Following Delhi Car Blast

Assam Police has detained 15 individuals across various districts for allegedly posting inflammatory and objectionable content on social media following the Delhi car blast incident that claimed 13 lives on Monday.
According to police reports, nine individuals were taken into custody on Thursday from different districts. The arrested persons have been identified as Rafijul Ali from Bongaigaon, Forid Uddin Laskar from Hailakandi, Inamul Islam and Firuj Ahmed from Lakhimpur, Shahil Shoman Sikdar and Rakibul Sultan from Barpeta, Nasim Akram from Hojai, Taslim Ahmed from Kamrup, and Abdur Rohim Mollah from South Salmara.
Prior to this, on Wednesday, five individuals - Mattiur Rahman from Darrang, Hassan Ali Mondal from Goalpara, Abdul Latif from Chirang, Wajhul Kamal from Kamrup, and Nur Amin Ahmed from Bongaigaon - were arrested for sharing inflammatory content related to the Delhi explosion.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that a total of 15 people have been arrested thus far for spreading "provocative and communal" posts on social media platforms.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government would not tolerate any attempts to disrupt peace and communal harmony in Assam, and has instructed law enforcement to maintain strict action against such activities.
On the social media platform X, Sarma stated, "Assam Police will continue to act swiftly and firmly against anyone misusing social media to spread hatred or glorify terror."
Earlier on Tuesday, authorities detained a retired principal of a government school in Cachar district for allegedly making politically motivated comments regarding the blast. The individual was subsequently released after being issued a notice.
Police sources revealed that these arrests followed intensive monitoring of online activities aimed at preventing the spread of communal hatred and glorification of terrorist acts.
The Assam Police has reinforced its commitment to taking prompt action against those who exploit social media to incite violence or undermine public order and safety.
