Al Falah University's management in Haryana's Faridabad has expressed deep anguish over the "unfortunate developments" related to doctors working there who have become primary suspects in the Delhi blast incident. The university has firmly stated it maintains only a professional relationship with these doctors.
According to a statement released by Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Bhupinder Kaur Anand, the Al Falah group has been operating various educational institutions since 1997 and holds recognition from the University Grants Commission, India's higher education regulatory body.
The statement emphasized, "Our University has been providing various academic and professional courses since 2019, training undergraduate MBBS students who now serve in prestigious hospitals and organizations across India and internationally, holding significant positions."
The university administration expressed profound sadness regarding the recent events, stating, "We are deeply saddened and anguished by the unfortunate developments that occurred and condemn them entirely. Our thoughts and prayers remain with all innocent people affected by these distressing events."
Addressing the detention of two doctors by investigating agencies, the statement clarified, "We wish to make it clear that the University has no connection with these individuals beyond their official professional capacities at the institution."
The Vice-Chancellor strongly refuted reports attempting to damage the university's reputation, noting with concern that "certain online platforms are circulating baseless and misleading stories clearly intended to malign the reputation and goodwill of the University. We strongly condemn and categorically deny all such false and defamatory allegations."
The statement further clarified that "no chemical or material, as alleged by certain platforms, is being used, stored, or handled within University premises. University laboratories serve exclusively for academic and training requirements of MBBS students and other authorized courses. All laboratory activities adhere strictly to established safety protocols, statutory norms, and ethical standards mandated by regulatory authorities."
The university urged all organizations and individuals to "act responsibly and verify information through official channels before making or sharing any statements concerning the University."
The Haryana-based institution has come under scrutiny after two doctors employed there were arrested in connection with a 2,900-kg explosives seizure. Umar Mohammad, suspected of triggering the Delhi blast that resulted in nine fatalities near Red Fort, was also employed at Al Falah. In recent days, security teams have conducted thorough campus investigations and questioned over 50 individuals in connection with the case.
