New Delhi:
Fresh CCTV footage has emerged in the Delhi blast investigation showing Dr Umar Mohammad, the primary suspect, and his associate Tariq Malik at a petrol pump in Sector 37 of Faridabad, Haryana.
The footage was recorded on October 29, the same day Dr Umar allegedly purchased a car from Sonu, owner of Royal Car Zone.
In the video, both Umar and Tariq can be seen walking past, with Tariq carrying a black backpack, though the car is not fully visible.
Investigative agencies are currently employing facial recognition technology to confirm the identities of these individuals.
Additional CCTV footage from another angle at the same location shows a car with license plate HR 26CE7674 parked beside the Pollution Under Control (PUC) booth. A man in a shirt appears to be conversing with officials. Shortly after, two bearded men appear – one wearing a grey t-shirt and the other in a white shirt carrying a backpack. One of these men is believed to be Tariq Malik, who was reportedly involved in the car transaction.
The three men subsequently entered the vehicle and departed.
Who Is Tariq Malik?
Tariq Ahmad Malik, 44, a former bank security guard in Jammu and Kashmir, is accused of involvement in the Delhi 10/11 blast near Red Fort. He is among three suspects arrested from Jammu and Kashmir's Samboora village, alongside Aamir Rashid and Umar Rashid.
Delhi 10/11 Blast
On Monday evening at 6:52 PM, a slow-moving white Hyundai i20 exploded near Delhi's Red Fort. The explosion quickly engulfed 22 nearby vehicles and caused severe casualties. Graphic scenes from the site showed mangled bodies on the road. The blast killed nine people and injured approximately two dozen others.
On Monday, Jammu and Kashmir police, working with Haryana police, dismantled what they described as a "white-collar" terror module. They arrested Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather and Dr Mujammil Shakil, close associates of Dr Umar Mohammad. Authorities seized 2,900 kg of explosives along with assault rifles and pistols. According to sources, these arrests may have prompted Dr Umar Mohammad to execute the blast.
Top intelligence sources informed NDTV on Tuesday that the raids on terror suspects likely triggered panic among the conspirators, forcing them to change their locations.
