Fatal Stabbing at Madhya Pradesh Bus Stop: Woman Murdered by Rejected Suitor in Broad Daylight

A horrific incident of violence stemming from unrequited love occurred in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district on Tuesday when a 23-year-old woman was brutally murdered in public view. Ritu Bhandarkar was waiting at a bus stop to commute to work when she was fatally attacked by Roshan Dharve, who viciously slit her throat with a knife.

Shocking footage of the murder has emerged, depicting the assailant repeatedly stabbing the woman in the neck while onlookers recorded the gruesome scene without intervening to help the victim.

During the attack, the perpetrator could be heard exclaiming, "She was with me for five years. We were together life and death. Now she's betraying me. She and her brothers sent boys to kill me." When questioned by a female bystander about his actions, he coldly replied, "Her life will be saved. Call the police and take her away."

The young victim collapsed on the ground, bleeding profusely, as the attacker continued his assault before wiping his blood-covered hands on her scarf.

Police reports indicate that Bhandarkar was employed at a furniture shop in Baihar and made daily bus commutes from her village. She was at the Amgaon Fata bus stop when the accused arrived on a motorcycle he had hitchhiked on.

According to witnesses, the two engaged in conversation for a brief period before a heated argument erupted. The assailant then produced a knife and attacked her multiple times, leaving her bleeding severely on the roadside.

Eyewitnesses reported that following the attack, several villagers apprehended and physically assaulted the perpetrator, leaving him injured and semi-conscious before police arrived. He has since been hospitalized under police custody.

Authorities recovered a knife and both individuals' mobile phones from the crime scene. Initial investigations suggest that Bhandarkar had recently ceased communication with the accused, allegedly triggering his violent rage.

As information about the murder spread, hundreds of local residents and family members of the victim gathered at the Baihar police station demanding justice. Their demands included compensation of Rs 1 crore, a government job for a family member, demolition of the accused's residence, and capital punishment for the perpetrator.

The atmosphere grew increasingly tense as public outrage intensified. Additional police forces have been deployed to maintain order. Law enforcement officials stated, "The body has been sent for post-mortem. The accused has been detained and is being interrogated. Every angle of the case is being investigated."
