New Delhi:
Indian security agencies have achieved a significant breakthrough with the apprehension of two of India's most notorious gangsters operating from foreign soil. Officials from security agencies, including Haryana Police, successfully arrested Venkatesh Garg in Georgia, while Bhanu Rana was captured in the United States. Rana is known to have connections with the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi criminal organization.
Both Garg and Rana are scheduled for imminent deportation to India. Currently, more than two dozen major Indian gangsters are based outside the country, recruiting members and managing criminal operations remotely.
The arrest of Venkatesh Garg has revealed his involvement in the murder of a BSP leader. Garg, who hails from Narayangarh in Haryana, had been residing in Georgia and faces over 10 criminal cases in India. He was actively recruiting young individuals from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and other northern Indian states.
Garg escaped to Georgia following his participation in the murder of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader in Gurugram. He has been operating an extortion network alongside Kapil Sangwan, another gangster currently living abroad. In October, Delhi Police arrested four shooters associated with Sangwan who were involved in an attack on a builder's residence and farmhouse.
Bhanu Rana, who has connections to the Bishnoi gang, has been residing in the United States for an extended period. Originally from Karnal, Rana has been involved in criminal activities for many years, with numerous cases registered against him. His criminal operations extend across Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi.
Rana's name emerged during investigations into a grenade attack in Punjab. In June, the Special Task Force (STF) in Karnal apprehended two individuals possessing hand grenades, pistols, and ammunition, who were operating under Rana's direction.
