The brooch is available in three colour combinations.
An ordinary Prada accessory has sparked widespread conversation due to its extraordinary price tag. The Italian luxury fashion house has recently introduced a brooch resembling a safety pin—an everyday item typically costing approximately Rs 10 for multiple pieces in local markets.
Named the "Crochet Safety Pin Brooch," this luxury accessory features colorful crochet thread wrapping and is adorned with the distinctive Prada triangle logo charm. The price? A remarkable Rs 69,000 ($775).
"Prada sleek safety pin brooch is enriched by a colorful crochet cord detail," states the product description on their official website. Crafted from brass and cotton materials, the accessory measures about 3.15 inches in length.
Customers can select from three different color combinations when purchasing this brooch. Options include blue and brown, baby pink with pistachio green, or orange and brown—the latter offering an autumnal aesthetic. Buyers may choose any of these three designs when acquiring the accessory.

The internet community promptly responded with criticism regarding the high price for such a basic item.
One commentator noted, "We would do something like this in school in our needlework class!!"
Another individual remarked, "I could make this with any colour and even get a gold charm (I'd personally use a circle) for the safety pin hole."
"Entire closet can be filled in 70000," observed another commenter.
"I bought the same for Rs 5 from Chandni Chowk," wrote someone else.
One user commented, "Are you for real? We lose these safety pins like anything, nobody's gonna use it because if you lose, you are gone!"
Previously, Prada generated controversy by launching Kolhapuri-style chappals priced at Rs 1.2 lakh. These sandals, inspired by traditional handcrafted footwear from Maharashtra, received criticism for their excessive pricing and failure to acknowledge the original artisans.
The situation intensified when a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the Bombay High Court, requesting that Prada provide monetary compensation to the Indian craftspeople for allegedly appropriating their design.
