New Delhi:
In a frightening incident in Delhi, a 38-year-old woman and her five-year-old child experienced a life-threatening situation when their Mercedes suddenly erupted in flames while stopped at a traffic signal.
The emergency unfolded on Thursday at approximately 5:30 pm near the Tara Apartment crossing in the capital city. The vehicle unexpectedly caught fire as the mother and child waited for their signal to change.
Delhi Police officers responded swiftly to the crisis. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ratan Lal Meena, Constable Rahul, and a traffic police officer quickly arrived at the location and successfully extracted both occupants from the burning vehicle.
As flames spread rapidly throughout the car, the officers immediately summoned a Delhi Jal Board water tanker to control the fire. The police personnel and tanker crew collaborated efficiently to extinguish the blaze and protect nearby pedestrians and vehicles from harm.
Following the incident, the rescued woman expressed profound gratitude toward the Delhi Police, acknowledging that their timely intervention likely prevented a tragic outcome.
The South-East District Police publicly commended the officers involved for their "bravery" and "promptness" in handling the dangerous situation.
