Police have apprehended two individuals for posting a threatening song on YouTube targeting the family of a rape survivor, authorities reported on Monday.
According to law enforcement officials, the survivor's family submitted a complaint stating that the suspects, Azharuddin and Shahzad, had been attempting to coerce them into a settlement. When the family refused, the two allegedly made multiple attempts to murder them and plotted against the family.
"Relatives of the rape-accused uploaded a song to YouTube containing offensive language that specifically named the victim and her family members. The song also contained threats that the victim would be shot if bail was granted. This recording was extensively shared throughout the village and community, severely disrupting the victim's family's social life," the complainants stated.
Based on the complaint, authorities registered an FIR at Rozka Meo Police Station and subsequently arrested Azharuddin and Shahzad.
"The investigation is ongoing. We will ensure both security and justice for the victim's family," a Nuh Police spokesperson confirmed.
Police reported that one of the gang-rape case defendants is currently incarcerated, while the other has been released on bail.
