Stalker Who Shot Class 12 Student Twice Arrested, Shot In Leg By Police

Jatin Mangla, captured on CCTV footage shooting a 17-year-old girl in Faridabad's Ballabhgarh, has been apprehended by authorities.

The stalker who attacked a teenage girl in Faridabad after she rejected his advances has been arrested following a police encounter that left him with a bullet wound in his leg. Jatin Mangla, whose disturbing attack on the Class 12 student was recorded on surveillance cameras, is currently hospitalized but reported to be in stable condition.

The incident occurred on Monday in Ballabhgarh when the teenage victim was walking with two friends near her residence. Jatin approached the girl and fired two shots, with one bullet striking her shoulder and another grazing her abdomen. After the girl cried for help, the assailant fled on his motorcycle. The victim was immediately transported to a hospital where she is currently receiving medical care.

The attack prompted local police to launch an extensive manhunt for the perpetrator.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Varun Dahiya informed media that five teams were deployed to search for the accused following Monday's incident. "Our investigation revealed he had been stalking and harassing the girl for an extended period. He acquired eight SIM cards within a month to contact her from various numbers. We also discovered he was carrying multiple weapons. While he dropped the weapon used in the attack at the crime scene, he had concealed another firearm near his residence," the senior officer explained.

Following Jatin's arrest, police took him to locate the hidden weapon. "When we brought him to recover the firearm, he opened fire on the police team and attempted to escape. Fortunately, no officers were injured. He sustained a bullet wound to his leg during the retaliatory fire," Dahiya stated.

The senior officer delivered a stern warning to the public, saying that anyone engaging in similar activities would face severe consequences. "Those involved in such behavior should surrender to police immediately. Otherwise, they will receive a response in kind," he cautioned.

Previously, the victim's sister told NDTV that the teenager was preparing for her Class 12 board examinations and regularly took the same route home from her coaching center. "He was waiting for her, as evident in the CCTV footage. He fired immediately upon seeing her," she recounted.

According to the sister, Jatin had aimed for the heart, but the girl raised her hand defensively. "The bullet penetrated her hand before hitting her shoulder." She also revealed that Jatin had been stalking the teenager for several days. "We contacted his family. His mother begged us and promised he wouldn't repeat such behavior. So we decided not to pursue the matter. Then the very next day, this attack happened."

When questioned about why the family hadn't filed a police complaint regarding the stalking, the sister explained, "His family was pleading with us. We should have reported it, but we didn't."
