24-Year-Old Arrested in Fatal Delhi Hit-and-Run Case: Victim Identified as Rajendra Gupta

A fatal hit-and-run incident in central Delhi has resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man, with police confirming the arrest of the accused on Thursday.

The tragic event took place on November 2 when LNJP Hospital notified police about a man who had been brought in deceased following a suspected road accident.

Following the incident, authorities registered a case under relevant BNS sections and identified the victim as Rajendra Gupta, a Krishna Nagar resident.

Law enforcement officials conducted a thorough investigation, examining footage from numerous CCTV cameras installed on surrounding roads and performing field inquiries to identify the vehicle responsible. After careful technical analysis, investigators identified a car with Uttar Pradesh registration as the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, according to a senior police officer.

After obtaining ownership details, police issued a notice under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act to the registered owner, 24-year-old Harshit Mehta from Agra. Police reported that the accused later appeared at a police station and admitted to his involvement in the incident.

The vehicle used in the offense was subsequently produced and seized by authorities.
