An active counter-terrorism operation continues in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district as security forces engage with terrorists in an ongoing encounter.

Security forces and terrorists exchanged gunfire in the early hours of Wednesday in the general area of Chhatru, Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to official reports.

Officials confirmed that the encounter began following a joint operation launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with the Indian Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The operation was based on specific intelligence inputs regarding terrorist presence in the Chhatru region. As the coordinated search operation commenced during pre-dawn hours, security personnel came under fire, prompting an immediate response and resulting in an exchange of gunfire.

The White Knight Corps shared information about the operation on social media platform X, stating: "Contact with Terrorists | Op Chhatru, in an intelligence based operation, in concert with @jk_police, in early morning hours today, alert troops of #WhiteKnightCorps have established contact with terrorists in the general area of Chhatru. Fire exchanged with terrorists. Operation is in progress."

The White Knight Corps further confirmed their coordinated efforts with Jammu and Kashmir Police in this intelligence-based counter-terrorism operation. The alert security forces established contact with the terrorists and engaged them in the Chhatru area.

According to latest reports, the operation remains ongoing with security forces maintaining a strong perimeter around the encounter site in Kishtwar district.
