Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on Tuesday that development initiatives valued at over Rs 2 lakh crore are currently in progress across the state with central government backing.
Speaking during a special assembly session commemorating Uttarakhand's 25th formation anniversary, Dhami expressed confidence that once these projects reach completion, the state will establish itself among India's most developed regions.
"With the Prime Minister's guidance and support, numerous development projects exceeding Rs 2 lakh crore are currently underway in our state. Upon completion, Uttarakhand will play a significant role in realizing the 'Viksit Bharat' vision," Dhami stated.
The Chief Minister highlighted several flagship projects including the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail corridor, all-weather road networks, ropeway systems, and enhanced air connectivity initiatives throughout the state.
Dhami noted that his administration has introduced 30 new policies across various sectors, with particular focus on energy and tourism development. He also emphasized key legislative achievements including the Uniform Civil Code, anti-conversion laws, new anti-riot regulations, strengthened anti-cheating measures, and minority education reforms.
The Chief Minister reported significant anti-corruption efforts and decisive action against what he termed "land jihad, love jihad and spit jihad," stating that approximately 9,000 acres of land has been reclaimed from unauthorized occupation.
He further revealed that stringent measures have been taken against 200 corrupt officials, including those from the IAS, PCS, and IFS cadres.
Regarding employment generation, Dhami highlighted that over 26,000 individuals have secured jobs during the past four years. "We have implemented numerous historic and far-reaching decisions benefiting the state, with impacts that will resonate for generations to come."
The Chief Minister paid homage to the activists who led the movement for Uttarakhand's statehood and particularly acknowledged former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's crucial role in the state's formation.
"Vajpayee not only established the state but also provided an essential economic package to support its development," Dhami concluded.
