Minor Detained and Parents Arrested After Teen Posts Derogatory Content About Hindu Deities for Social Media Fame

Hindu organizations conducted protests against the family after the incident came to light.

A juvenile girl was placed in a detention facility and her parents were taken into custody after she published an Instagram reel containing disrespectful comments about Hindu deities in an attempt to "gain more followers".

The controversial video, approximately one minute in length, was uploaded on October 27 and featured the girl making offensive statements about Hindu gods. The content rapidly spread online, prompting numerous users to express their objections and call for police intervention. Several Hindu organizations staged demonstrations against the family and formally lodged complaints against them.

Following the complaints, authorities sent the minor to a detention center and arrested her parents who allegedly were aware of the video but failed to disclose it. Law enforcement has also filed charges against another individual who remains at large.

"The underage girl made inappropriate comments against Hindu deities. Her parents were aware of this, and other individuals were also involved. The girl's motivation was to increase her viewership and social media following. We have detained her parents. We strongly advise the public against sharing the video further. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone who continues to circulate the content," police officials stated.

A recording of the teenager confessing to authorities and expressing remorse for her actions has also emerged online.

"I made a mistake by creating this video. I sincerely apologize. I will never repeat such behavior. I request everyone to stop sharing the video," she stated.
