An ITBP jawan rammed his car into four pedestrians and roadside carts in Bhopal

Bhopal:

In a troubling demonstration of recklessness and disregard for the law, uniformed personnel responsible for maintaining public safety have become perpetrators themselves. Two separate incidents involving allegedly intoxicated law enforcement officers occurred within hours in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal and its commercial center Indore, resulting in multiple civilian injuries.

The first incident occurred around 8 p.m. Monday near platform number 6 of Bhopal Railway Station. Deepak alias Rajendra Singh, an ITBP jawan allegedly under the influence of alcohol, crashed his private vehicle into four pedestrians and several roadside vendors before being subdued by bystanders.

Mangalwara police reported that the driver, stationed with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police battalion under the Bilkhiriya police jurisdiction, had traveled from the ITBP campus in Kokta Transport Nagar to collect a visitor. Witnesses described him as driving at high speed and appearing intoxicated.

After striking four young men, Deepak reportedly attempted to escape but was apprehended by onlookers who physically confronted him and damaged his vehicle, which displayed a "POLICE" sticker. Inspector Ajay Kumar Soni verified that the accused was intoxicated and has been sent for medical evaluation.

"All four victims sustained leg injuries, with one suffering a fracture. We have detained the suspect and are proceeding with legal measures," Soni informed reporters. The injured individuals were transported to Hamidia Hospital for medical attention.

Approximately two hours later, at 10:30 p.m., another alarming incident unfolded in Indore's Raoji Bazaar area, allegedly involving three active-duty police officers.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to local media, a white vehicle carrying three intoxicated uniformed officers nearly collided with two young women visiting a local pharmacy. When the women raised concerns, the officers allegedly fled the scene, running over four to five bystanders during their escape.

Local residents pursued and surrounded the vehicle, discovering that the occupants were police personnel, later identified as Constable Anil from Sanyogitaganj Police Station, Head Constable Sudarshan Herve from Bhanwarkuan, and Constable Vedant from Azad Nagar. However, the three officers managed to escape before additional authorities arrived.
