Stepmother Arrested in Uttarakhand for Fatal Assault on 4-Year-Old Boy After Confession to Police

Dehradun authorities have arrested a woman for allegedly causing the death of her four-year-old stepson after pushing him during a fit of rage, police officials reported on Monday.

The arrest followed a complaint filed on Sunday by the child's father, who suspected his wife's involvement in the incident that resulted in his son's death on October 27 in Uttarakhand's Doiwala block.

In his statement to police, the father claimed that his wife, Priya, routinely mistreated his son Vivaan, often subjecting him to cruel treatment and physical abuse over minor issues.

Rahul Kumar, a resident of Bullawala village, explained in his complaint that he had married Priya following the death of his first wife, who was Vivaan's mother.

Kumar reported that on October 27, after he had left for work, his son suffered severe injuries and subsequently died while being transported to the hospital. He expressed suspicion that Priya was responsible for the child's death.

Based on Kumar's allegations, authorities at Doiwala police station registered a case under Section 105 of the BNS (culpable homicide) and began an investigation into the matter.

Police gathered testimonies from neighbors regarding the incident, after which they took Priya into custody for questioning.

During the interrogation, Priya allegedly confessed to pushing Vivaan to the floor in a moment of anger, causing him to sustain serious injuries that led to his death while being taken to the hospital.

Following her confession, police formally arrested Priya, they confirmed.
