Son Strangles Mother to Death for Intervening in Domestic Violence Incident in UP

In a tragic incident, a man allegedly strangled his mother to death after she attempted to intervene when he was beating his wife, police officials reported on Monday.

The incident occurred in Baghera Kalan village in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district at approximately 10:00 pm on Sunday, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Nitish Singh.

Police report that Ramsurat Bind returned to his home intoxicated and began physically assaulting his wife, Sunita Devi, while verbally abusing other family members present at the scene.

When his 65-year-old mother, Chamelia Devi, protested against his violent behavior, Ramsurat allegedly turned his aggression toward her. He began beating and strangling her until she lost consciousness.

Family members rushed Chamelia Devi to a nearby hospital, but medical staff declared her dead upon arrival, authorities confirmed.

A formal complaint was filed by Rammurat Bind, another son of the deceased woman, leading to a case being registered at Jigna police station. Authorities subsequently arrested Ramsurat on Sunday.

Police have sent the victim's body for post-mortem examination as part of their ongoing investigation into the domestic violence incident that turned fatal.
