Election Commission Seizes Illegal Cash, Drugs and Liquor Worth Over Rs 100 Crore Ahead of Bihar Polls

Assembly polls in two phases will be held in Bihar on November 6 and 11.
New Delhi:
The Election Commission announced on Monday that enforcement agencies have confiscated illegal cash, drugs, liquor and various freebies valued at over Rs 100 crore from Bihar and other states where assembly by-elections are scheduled.
According to the poll panel, as of November 3, illicit inducements worth more than Rs 108.19 crore have been seized from various states. This includes Rs 9.62 crore in cash, liquor worth Rs 42.14 crore (9.6 lakh litres), drugs valued at Rs 24.61 crore, precious metals amounting to Rs 5.8 crore, and additional freebies worth over Rs 26 crore.
The Bihar assembly elections will be conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11.
Voting for assembly by-elections in eight constituencies across Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Punjab, Telangana and Rajasthan is scheduled for November 11.
The counting of votes for both the assembly elections and by-polls will take place on November 14.
The Election Commission has deployed 824 flying squads throughout Bihar to ensure that complaints reported on C-VIGIL are addressed within 100 minutes.
Additionally, the EC stated that it has instructed all enforcement authorities to vigilantly monitor and combat the movement of cash, drugs, liquor and other inducements during the election period.
