Mumbai:
After a disturbing video went viral showing staff members at a school for disabled children physically abusing a student, Maharashtra's Disability Welfare Minister Atul Save has promised a thorough investigation and strict consequences for those responsible.
The incident took place at Chaitanya Kanifnath Apang Vidyalay, located in Mandki village in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. The shocking footage reveals a disabled student from this residential facility being subjected to severe abuse, with his hands bound behind his back while being struck repeatedly with a cooker lid.
"I have instructed my department secretary and commissioner to conduct a comprehensive investigation into this matter and implement strict measures against all individuals involved," stated the minister, who represents the district in question.
"If necessary, we will pursue criminal charges and cancel all permissions previously granted to the institution," Save affirmed.
When questioned about allegations that the school's administrator has connections to the BJP party, the minister responded firmly, "We will hold accountable everyone involved, regardless of their political affiliations." The video, which has been widely shared on X (formerly Twitter), has triggered significant public outrage.
