Patna:

Actor Neetu Chandra, who serves as the icon of the Election Commission's voter outreach in Bihar, shared her experience regarding a political opportunity during NDTV's Bihar Power Play event in Patna.

During an engaging session, Chandra humorously remarked, "Trump's team also contacted me," quickly clarifying that she was only joking.

The actress, known for her performances in films like 'Garam Masala' and 'Traffic Signal,' plays a significant role in the Election Commission's Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, which aims to increase voter turnout.

Chandra addressed various topics during the session, including the Bihari identity and her acting journey.

"My journey has been from a middle-class family to Hollywood. There exists a prejudice against Biharis. If various accents like Marathi and Punjabi are accepted, ours should be too. I'll only change my accent when required for a specific role," she stated.

"For 15 years, I've been working to empower Bihar's people. Change begins at home. While criticism comes easily, fixing issues requires effort. I urge everyone to exercise their voting rights," she added.

Sharing insights from her acting career that built her resilience and confidence, Chandra continued:

"I'm currently working on Hollywood, Hindi, and Bhojpuri projects, aiming for lead roles in each. For aspiring actors, remember that beyond beauty and presentation, you must prepare for rejection and persistently open closed doors. If your Neetu didi can achieve it, so can all of you," she encouraged the audience filled with young attendees.

Through her production company, Champaran Talkies, Chandra has diligently created employment opportunities, launched local talent, supported women farmers, and elevated regional art and voices from Bihar.
