PM Modi Praises Indigenous Dog Breeds' Performance at National Unity Day Celebrations in Gujarat

The indigenous dog breeds demonstrated impressive skills by completing challenging obstacle courses during the event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed admiration for the demonstrations performed by indigenous dog breeds during the Rashtriya Ekta Divas celebrations held at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat on Friday.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi shared footage of these impressive demonstrations and commented, "Among the most admired parts of the Ekta Parade were the demonstrations by indigenous dog breeds."
The video showcases these skilled canines navigating various obstacles, including jumping over tall walls and carefully traversing narrow rope ladders, highlighting their agility and training.
During his recent 'Mann ki Baat' program on Sunday, PM Modi commended the Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for increasing the inclusion of indigenous dogs. He stated, "I had requested the forces to embrace indigenous breeds as they are better adapted to Indian conditions. I am happy to share that our security agencies have made commendable efforts in this direction."
According to reports from ANI, approximately 150 native dog breeds have now been deployed across multiple operational areas, including both western and eastern border regions of India.
The Prime Minister specifically highlighted the training programs for native breeds such as the Rampur Hound from Uttar Pradesh and the Mudhol Hound from Karnataka and Maharashtra.
On Friday, PM Modi paid his respects to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of India's first home minister. Since 2014, Sardar Patel's birth anniversary has been officially celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31.
