Dramatic footage captures massive mountainside collapse directly in front of Garhwal MP's vehicle convoy
Garhwal BJP MP Anil Baluni had a close call with disaster when a sudden landslide occurred on the Badrinath National Highway near Devprayag, sending heavy debris flowing across the road in front of his convoy. At the time, Baluni was inspecting areas affected by recent natural disasters.
The frightening incident took place as the MP was returning to Rishikesh after visiting disaster-affected regions in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts.
During his journey, Baluni noticed landslide activity and stopped his vehicle to investigate. After stepping out and signaling others to follow, a enormous section of the mountain suddenly collapsed, forcing the MP and his team to flee hastily to safety.
Taking to social media platform X, Baluni shared his harrowing experience: "The severe cloudburst and landslides in Uttarakhand this year have left such deep wounds that it will take a long time to heal them. Yesterday evening, I am sharing with you all a terrifying scene of a landslide in the disaster-affected area. This scene itself speaks volumes about the severe natural calamity that our Uttarakhand is going through at this time."
"I pray to Baba Kedarnath for the safe life, good health, and prosperity of all people. In this hour of disaster, I appreciate the dedication of all the officials, NDRF-SDRF personnel, administration, and the workers clearing debris from the roads even in challenging circumstances," he continued.

Video footage of the incident reveals a substantial portion of the mountainside collapsing dramatically in front of Baluni's vehicles, sending rocks and debris cascading down. The footage shows the MP and his entourage quickly retreating to avoid potential tragedy.
Uttarakhand has been experiencing numerous natural calamities during this monsoon season, with heavy rainfall and multiple cloudbursts causing extensive destruction, landslides, and fatalities across various districts.
In related news, authorities report that 10 individuals remain missing following Thursday's cloudburst that caused severe debris flows in Nanda Nagar's Kuntari Lagafali area and Dhurma.
Response teams from the SDRF, NDRF, and Public Works Department have been mobilized, utilizing JCB machinery and other equipment to clear debris and support ongoing relief operations.
