PM Modi Honors Sardar Patel's 150th Birth Anniversary at Statue of Unity on National Unity Day 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat on Friday, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of India's first home minister.

In Ekta Nagar, the Prime Minister honored Patel, whose birth anniversary has been celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) every October 31 since 2014, coinciding with PM Modi's first term as prime minister.

The Prime Minister arrived at the impressive 182-metre-tall statue in Gujarat's Narmada district early in the morning, where he paid respects to the "Iron Man of India" by offering flower petals at the memorial.

The 2025 Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations feature a comprehensive program including a vibrant cultural festival and the National Unity Day parade performed by police and paramilitary forces.

After the tribute ceremony, PM Modi proceeded to a nearby venue where he administered the Ekta Diwas pledge to attendees and observed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade.

The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade, which serves as a highlight of the celebrations, showcases contingents from various paramilitary forces including the BSF and CRPF, alongside multiple state police forces.

This year's commemoration has gained additional significance as the parade has been structured similar to the Republic Day parade format, elevating the importance of the occasion.
