Vadodara:
A Vadodara couple has reported that their 28-year-old son has been held captive in Thailand for five months, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation, according to an official statement.
Nagarbhai Ranpara and his wife Rita have expressed concerns that their son Tushar has been unreachable for five months. They believe he is being held against his will in Thailand by agents who convinced him to relocate to the Southeast Asian nation approximately one year ago.
The worried parents filed an application at Sama police station in Vadodara several days ago, requesting assistance to locate their son and facilitate his return to India.
Given the gravity of the situation, the investigation has been transferred to the Vadodara city crime branch, confirmed Assistant Commissioner of Police ('G' division), GB Bambhaniya on Wednesday.
"According to the application submitted by Tushar's parents, he traveled to Dubai in April last year to work for a private company with assistance from two local immigration agents. Subsequently, a Dubai-based agent named Abhishek Kumar arranged for his relocation to Thailand in September 2024. The couple stated that Tushar ceased all communication with them five months ago," Bambhaniya explained.
"The parents suspect their son is being held captive and forced to work without consent. The investigation has been assigned to the crime branch to locate Tushar and establish contact with him as quickly as possible," the official added.
Ranpara has appealed to both the Gujarat state and central governments to help find his son and bring him back home.
"After arriving in Thailand last year, he maintained contact through video and voice calls. However, we haven't received any calls from him for the past five months. We believe the agents involved in his relocation to Thailand have confiscated his phone and are holding him captive. We urge both the state and central governments to help bring our son back," he told reporters.
