Former Karnataka DGP's Lucknow Home Burglarized: Rs 2 Lakh and Valuable Jewelry Stolen

The residence of former Karnataka Director General of Police Mahendra Kumar Srivastava in Lucknow's Aliganj area was burglarized around midnight, with the theft occurring between October 21 and October 25.

According to the police report filed by Mr. Srivastava's wife, the family returned from a relative's home on October 26 and discovered their house in complete disarray between 9:00 and 9:30 AM.

The burglary resulted in the theft of cash amounting to 2 lakh rupees along with significant jewelry items. The stolen valuables included eight bangles, eleven chains, two lockets, two diamond sets, five pendants, and additional jewelry pieces.

Lucknow Police have registered a formal case under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Additional information regarding the investigation remains pending.

In an unrelated incident from Uttar Pradesh, three police officers, including a Sub-Inspector, were suspended following the death of an individual who was allegedly beaten by locals who mistakenly identified him as a thief in Raebareli district.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Sinha informed ANI that five suspects have been arrested in connection with this case, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining accused individuals.

"A case was immediately filed at Unchahar police station after a man was beaten to death by people who mistook him for a thief. Five individuals have already been jailed, and we are working to identify and arrest the remaining suspects," ASP Sinha stated.

The victim's widow, Pinky, has appealed for government assistance following the tragedy. "My husband was beaten to death. Those responsible should face the same consequence. I need government support as I have a daughter to care for. While Lok Sabha Opposition Leader and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi spoke with my in-laws, he has not communicated with me directly," she told reporters.
