Assam Government to Introduce Bills on 'Love Jihad', Polygamy and Land Rights in Upcoming Assembly Session

Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that the state government plans to introduce several significant bills in the upcoming Assembly session, which is expected to take place next month.

During an official function in Nagaon, Sarma informed reporters that these bills will address controversial issues such as 'love jihad', polygamy, protection of Satras (Vaishnavite monasteries), and land rights for tea tribe communities.

When asked about specific details regarding the proposed legislation, the Chief Minister stated that comprehensive information would be shared once the draft bills receive approval from the state cabinet.

"The forthcoming Assam Assembly session will see the introduction of several important and historic bills addressing critical matters including 'love jihad', polygamy, preservation of Satras, and land rights for tea tribes," Sarma explained during his interaction with the media.
