Durg:
A 60-year-old man was fatally stabbed by two individuals following a heated confrontation regarding firecrackers being set off near his residence in Chhattisgarh's Durg district, according to police reports on Tuesday.
Authorities have apprehended the suspects involved in the violent incident that occurred within the jurisdiction of Chhavni police station in Bhilai town on Monday evening, as confirmed by an official.
The official stated that the accused, identified as Sanjay and Shubham, were igniting firecrackers in proximity to the victim's home when the victim's daughter-in-law expressed her objection.
The two men subsequently brandished a small cutting tool and pursued the woman into her residence, where the victim, Ganesh Bairagi, was engaged in having dinner with family members. When he attempted to mediate the situation, the men allegedly verbally abused him and launched an attack, according to the official report.
It is alleged that Shubham restrained the victim while Sanjay repeatedly inflicted stab wounds to his chest and abdominal region using the cutting implement, the official detailed.
The victim collapsed from his injuries and was urgently transported to a medical facility in Supela, where medical personnel pronounced him deceased, the official confirmed.
The assailants, who resided in the same neighborhood, fled the scene immediately but were later captured on Tuesday following a formal complaint filed by the victim's daughter-in-law, the official added.
