Tragic Death of Canadian Paraglider: Megan Elizabeth Roberts Found After Crash in Himachal's Dhauladhar Mountains

A tragic incident occurred when 27-year-old Canadian paraglider Megan Elizabeth Roberts was found dead after crashing in the Dhauladhar mountain ranges. According to officials on Tuesday, her body has been successfully transported to Kangra.

Roberts had embarked on a solo paragliding flight from the popular Bir-Billing area on Saturday. After the accident, search and rescue teams utilized coordinates she had managed to send through her satellite phone to locate her.

The search party eventually reached the crash site situated at an elevation of 13,000 feet, where they discovered the paraglider deceased. Additional District Magistrate Shilpi Beakta informed that Roberts' remains would be released to her family following post-mortem procedures at Tanda Medical College.

The ADM also confirmed that authorities will conduct an investigation to determine the causes behind the fatal crash.

Baijnath Sub-divisional Magistrate Sankalp Gautam had previously reported on Monday that rescue teams had to bring Roberts' body down to 10,000 feet for airlift operations after a helicopter was unable to land at the actual crash location due to challenging terrain.

This incident adds to a concerning pattern of paragliding accidents in the Kangra region. In July, a 27-year-old tourist from Gujarat named Satish suffered serious injuries after crashing in Dharamshala's Indru Nag area. Earlier in January, another tragedy occurred when Ahmedabad resident Bhavsar Khushi lost her life after falling during takeoff on a tandem paragliding flight at the same location.
