AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi announced on Tuesday that his party will extend support to Congress candidate Naveen Yadav in the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll scheduled for November 11.
During a press conference, Owaisi explained that the decision to back the Congress candidate was made considering that the election outcome would not affect the stability of the current government, and development prospects appear promising under Yadav's leadership.
"We appeal to the residents of Jubilee Hills to understand that the government will remain unchanged regardless of this election result. I urge the nearly four lakh voters who have supported BRS for the past decade to now cast their votes for Naveen Yadav, a young candidate capable of bringing much-needed development to Jubilee Hills," Owaisi stated.
The AIMIM chief criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for failing to deliver meaningful development in the constituency despite representing it for ten years.
Owaisi also suggested that AIMIM might adopt different strategic approaches in future general elections.
The significant Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll is set for November 11, with vote counting scheduled for November 14.
The bypoll was necessitated following the death of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June this year due to a heart attack.
BRS has fielded Maganti Sunitha, widow of the late MLA, while BJP has nominated Lankala Deepak Reddy for the contest.
Responding to a question, Owaisi revealed that his party had reached out to RJD president Lalu Prasad and his son Tejashwi Yadav, expressing willingness to contest elections as part of the INDIA bloc. However, these communications received no response.
On Sunday, AIMIM announced its slate of 25 candidates, including two non-Muslims, for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
