In a tragic incident on Wednesday, seven family members lost their lives when a truck carrying sand crashed into their car in Nellore district, according to police reports.
The fatal collision occurred near Sangam mandal when the oncoming truck smashed into the car, resulting in the immediate death of all seven occupants.
Police stated that the victims were residents of Nellore town who were traveling to visit relatives at Atmakur government hospital.
"Seven family members, including a 15-year-old girl, perished after their car was struck by a sand-laden truck near Sangam mandal in Nellore district," a police official informed PTI.
The truck driver escaped from the accident site, and authorities are currently working to locate him, the official added.
A case has been registered regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, YSRCP leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his sorrow over the tragic accident.
"I am deeply disturbed by this incident and extend my heartfelt condolences to the grieving families," Reddy stated in a YSRCP press release.
He called on authorities to implement all necessary safety measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
