India is approaching complete liberation from Naxal-Maoist terrorism, with over 100 districts now free from this menace set to celebrate Diwali with dignity this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Monday.

While speaking to the armed forces aboard INS Vikrant near Goa's coast, PM Modi commended the security forces' bravery, highlighting their significant victories against Maoist terrorism. Their efforts have reduced Maoist influence from 125 districts a decade ago to merely 11 districts today.

"Thanks to the valor and courage of our security forces, the country has achieved another major milestone in recent years. This milestone represents the eradication of Maoist terrorism. India stands on the threshold of freedom from Naxal-Maoist terror," the Prime Minister stated.

He explained that before 2014, approximately 125 districts across India suffered from Maoist violence, but government initiatives over the past decade have reduced this number to just 11 districts.

"Among these 11 districts, only three remain under their significant influence," he noted.

"More than 100 districts have now been liberated from Maoist terror, breathing freely for the first time and celebrating a joyous Diwali," the Prime Minister remarked.

"Many of these districts are celebrating Diwali for the first time. Record sales transactions are being observed in these areas during the GST Bachat Utsav. In districts where Maoist terror once suppressed even mention of the Constitution, the spirit of Swadeshi now resonates strongly," he added.

PM Modi noted that this might be the first time since Independence that police forces have faced such an enormous challenge, expressing confidence that in the past decade, they've made substantial progress against a 50-year-old problem.

"Our forces have achieved 90 percent success," he asserted, emphasizing that internal conflicts require extraordinary patience to protect innocent lives.

He described how Maoists previously prevented infrastructure development in affected regions, destroying schools and hospitals and killing healthcare workers.

Now in those same areas, highways are being constructed, businesses are establishing themselves, and educational and healthcare facilities are creating brighter futures for children, PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister attributed these achievements to "the dedication, sacrifice, and courage of our security forces."

"I am thrilled that for the first time, residents in many such districts across the country will celebrate Diwali with pride, honor, and dignity," PM Modi declared.

He also paid tribute to the brave police personnel leading the fight against Maoist terrorism.

PM Modi acknowledged that victories against Maoist terror have come at great cost, honoring police personnel who have lost limbs or face mobility challenges yet maintain their fighting spirit and commitment.
