Odisha Woman Raped, Threatened By Husband's Colleague
Authorities report the suspect remains at large.
Bhubaneswar:
A woman residing in Balangir district, Odisha, has allegedly been sexually assaulted by a coworker of her husband. The perpetrator reportedly threatened her with death if she revealed the incident to anyone.
The assault was reported in the Kantabanji region, where the victim submitted a formal complaint on September 11, detailing a sexual assault that occurred approximately one month prior.
Kantabanji Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Lakshmi Narayan Marandi confirmed that the woman identified Chintu Aggarwal as her attacker. Aggarwal, who worked alongside her husband, was known to visit their rented residence frequently.
According to the filed complaint, on August 13 between 7 and 8 pm, Aggarwal entered the premises while she was home alone, as her husband had gone to the market. She alleged that Aggarwal sexually assaulted her and subsequently threatened to kill her husband if she disclosed the incident.
Police officials stated that the woman delayed reporting the crime due to concerns about social stigmatization and the threats made against her family members.
Law enforcement has confirmed that Aggarwal is currently evading capture. The investigation into the incident continues.
