Defence Minister Rajnath Singh referred to BrahMos as a symbol of India's increasing military strength in his recent address.
Lucknow:
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a stern warning to Pakistan on Saturday, stating that BrahMos missiles can now reach every part of Pakistani territory and that Operation Sindoor was merely a preview of India's capabilities.
Singh emphasized that achieving victory has become customary for India.
The Defence Minister, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, officially launched the first set of BrahMos missiles produced at the BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow's Sarojini Nagar area.
In his speech, Singh portrayed BrahMos as more than just a missile system, calling it a representation of India's strategic confidence.
"BrahMos has established itself as a fundamental component across all military branches - Army, Navy, and Air Force," he stated.
The Defence Minister highlighted how India's military capabilities now serve as a powerful deterrent to potential adversaries.
Speaking at the BrahMos Manufacturing facility in Lucknow, Singh remarked, "Every inch of Pakistani territory is now within BrahMos' range. Operation Sindoor was merely a demonstration. It conveyed to Pakistan that if India could create Pakistan, then should circumstances require... I need not elaborate further, you understand the implications."
He added that Operation Sindoor demonstrated that "victory has become ingrained in our national character."
Singh praised Operation Sindoor for instilling renewed confidence among Indians and showcasing BrahMos' effectiveness globally.
"Maintaining this level of confidence is now our shared responsibility," he declared.
"The global community now acknowledges India's capabilities. BrahMos has strengthened our conviction that India can transform its aspirations into reality," Singh stated.
Operation Sindoor, conducted in May, targeted terrorist infrastructure and defence installations in Pakistan following an April 22 attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that resulted in 26 casualties.
During this operation, India deployed indigenously developed BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to neutralize Pakistan's air bases.
Regarding BrahMos production at the Lucknow facility, Singh noted that the project symbolizes India's growing self-assurance and proficiency in defence manufacturing.
"Lucknow isn't merely my parliamentary constituency; it holds a special place in my heart. Today, it has evolved into a hub of technology and industry, beyond its cultural and traditional significance."
"The successful manufacturing of BrahMos missiles here demonstrates that what was once an aspiration has become reality. This project represents perseverance, dedication, and determination," he added.
Chief Minister Adityanath called it a proud moment for Uttar Pradesh that reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' vision.
"Under the Defence Industrial Corridor initiative, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a significant center for indigenous defence manufacturing. The BrahMos facility exemplifies this transformation," he said.
"With the BrahMos missile system, India can now address not only its security requirements but also support its global allies," the Chief Minister added.
Adityanath affirmed his government's commitment to backing projects that enhance national security while creating employment opportunities and technical expertise in the region.
According to an official statement, Saturday's event marks a significant milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) and will reinforce India's commitment to achieving self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
The state-of-the-art BrahMos Aerospace facility, inaugurated on May 11, houses comprehensive infrastructure for missile integration, testing, and quality assurance. Following successful testing, the missiles are prepared for deployment by the Indian armed forces.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, and various officials attended the ceremony.
