A significant fire broke out at the Brahmaputra Apartments on BD Marg in Delhi this afternoon, affecting residences allocated to Members of Parliament. The fire, which produced visible smoke columns rising from the building, has since been extinguished. Brahmaputra Apartments serves as a residential complex specifically designated for Rajya Sabha MPs, located on Bishambhar Das Marg in the capital city.

According to officials, the fire department received an alert at 1:20 pm, promptly dispatching six fire engines to respond to the emergency. The underlying cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

Residents at the scene reported that the apartment's fire safety infrastructure was non-operational during the incident. "Upon noticing the fire, we attempted to use the fire extinguishing system, but discovered there was no water supply. The fire hydrant was completely non-functional," one resident informed NDTV.

Recent images from the location reveal substantial structural damage affecting the lowest two floors of the apartment building.
